International Federation for Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus - Survey on discrimination of persons with SBH

Print PagePrint PageSend by emailSend by email

Have you ever felt discrimination because you have or your family member has SBH?

Did you do something about it? The International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (IF) wants to know so that this doesn't happen again to you or to other people with SBH!

Please answer these simple questions to help us understand your situation:

1) Describe your case of discrimination. Make sure you include the following details: - When and where did it happen? - Who discriminated against you or your family member (for example: governmental agency, private institution, another person...)? - What did you do about it (for example: go to court, appeal to Ombudsperson, write a media article, inform your local SBH association...)? If you did nothing against discrimination, please let us know why (for example: don't know how to, feel it's useless, no time, afraid...).

2) Your personal assessment: why do you think it was discrimination on the basis of your or your family member’s SBH status? If you are familiar with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, let us know what Article/ what human right was affected.

3) Would you be willing to share your experience with others? If yes, then would you do it publicly/anonymously? We commit to respecting your choice if you choose to share with us confidentially.

Please let us know by 10 June 2016. You can email us on janina.arsenjeva@ifglobal.org.

How will IF use this information?

IF is preparing training on human rights of people with SBH and will use your cases as examples of human rights of people with SBH that are most often violated. We will also use these cases to raise awareness about human rights of people with SBH internationally.
