For over 40 years, the Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Association of Ontario (SB&H), has been committed to making a positive difference in the lives of individuals with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus.
For the past several years, the calendar has been filled with beautiful and creative artwork by children and youth whose lives are affected by Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus.
This year, we thought you might like to meet the artists featured in the 2016 calendar and learn a little about them.
Every month, we will feature a new artist. So, keep checking in to read about someone new.
1. How did you come up with the idea for this drawing/painting?
Well we would love to take credit for this idea but we found it online one day while looking for some fun crafts to do and Alejandra was really excited about it!
2. Why do you like drawing/painting?
She say's it's her favorite, she loves colouring and painting because it's so much fun!
3. How did you feel when you heard your drawing/painting was selected for the TGIF Calendar?
Happy and excited!
4. What are your hobbies and interests?
Alejandra loves to swim and takes private swim lessons every Friday night. She is just starting to get really comfortable in the water and has started to submerge her head for up to 5 seconds while trying to retrieve things from the pool floor. She often comes to the YMCA with me and has shown some interest in the climbing wall and wheeling around the track next to me while I run. She is also learning to read, so on down times more often then not you can find her with her nose in a book, listening to music or drawing and colouring.
5. What would you like to be when you grow up
A Veterinarian or a Teacher
