You can get enough folic acid through food. Here are some foods high in folic acid: Dark leafy greens (spinach, collard greens), asparagus, broccoli, citrus fruits (papaya, oranges), beans, peas, and lentils.

It is definitely possible to get the folic acid you need through your diet and is its actually preferrable to get it this way than through supplments. The reason for this is because your body is more efficient extracting it from your food than it is breaking down supplements and trying to absorb it that way. Of course, when you are pregnant, it doesn't hurt to take a good multivitamin in addition to eating a balanced diet in order to give yourself a bit of extra insurance when it comes to getting the right nutrients, but if you are conscious about what you are eating and putting a focus on eating enough of the good stuff, you don't have to take a vitamin supplement at all.

I agree with you. These food should always be administered, especially to young children and babies.

I think that getting folic acid through food is the best way to actually gain folic acid in your system.
Below I will list food that is rich in folic acid you should eat them often:
1. orange juice
2. brown bread
3. brocoli
4. leafy greens
5. asparagus
6. beets
7. bell peppers
8. brussels sprouts
9. okra
10. seeds & nuts
11. beans, peas, lentils
12. avocado
13. cauliflower

Hope I helped!

I heard some great responses above. They are correct you have to eat green healthy foods. However, If you need more information on the topic, the best person to ask is your doctor. You doctor can refer you to nutritionist who can help you out a great deal. The nutritionist can tailor a plan to your body needs.

Yeah I believe that eating those fruits and veggies would give you plenty of folic acid. You just need to write down what amount to take each day and track it with a journal. I think also walking around and doing some exercise is good too. So I would make certain that you buy fresh fruits from your market and not from a dollar store.

I never use medicine for my diets. I just love to eat some good food to ease things up.
