Default Headaches & Tummy aches sometimes!

My 3 year old daughter* with hydrochephalus complains of headaches maybe twice a week. But sometimes she will complain about* her tummy hurts the odd time. Is that normal? She is doing well otherwise. Started walking last summer though so a little later but that's fine. Talking alot. but her balance is not the best. Stumbles alot outside. In time I guess she wil get better. Everyone take care! Tamara

Default Headaches & Tummy aches sometimes!

Dear Tamara,

I have had six shunt revisions between March and August of this year. I started having headaches once in a while in the fall, then during the winter they became frequent. By the end of March, they were constant. At that ponit the*neurosurgeon*revised the shunt. I am*wondering if your daughter's shunt is slowing*beginning to malfunction. However, I also read that individuals with hydrocephalus have a greater chance of experiencing headaches than people who do not have this condition.

As for physical skills, I also began to walk late and stumble, although, I was considered a chatter as of the age of two!*I did need follw-ups with an eye doctor who planned exercise sessions. Today, I still have difficulty with balance and coordination because my right side is weaker than my left, and my right leg is crooked. I struggle when learning sports, but today I can swim, ski, play golf and drive. I am sure that with determination and courage, your daughter will reach for the highest stars!
