Default Mental health medical records - what are the underwriters seeing?

I have a mental health condition, just applied for health insurance and the underwriters need a copy of my medical records from my psychiatrist. Does anyone know what exactly they're seeing?? How detailed are these records? Do they see all the doctor's notes and everything?

They don't see everything. They will see notes written by your doctor, but most doctors keep their notes short and more to the medical portion of the mental illness rather than from a more personal angle. My husband's doctor actually told him that the majority of the things they actually talk about rarely make it into the notes..only the stuff she needs in order to document the progression of the illness, the course of treatment and the success or failure of the treatment. But each doctor is different.
