Although the exact causes of Spina Bifida (SB) are not yet known, maintaining healthy levels of folate (called folic acid when taken via a supplement) have been identified as a key factor in prevention.

You definitely should. They are very healthy and besides rich in folic acid.

I never had lentis so I would not know where to buy them. If they are rich and healthy I just have to know where to pay for them.

You can buy lentils at the nearby grocery shop here in Poland, but I don't know how it is in your country.

Thank you for the list. It is very helpful. Since folate is the type of vitamin that your body cannot store, it is important to eat foods each day that contain folate.

A few other foods that are options:

Eggs - 1 egg = 25 mcg of folate
Cantaloupe - 1 cup = 37 mcg folate

My country probably has it but I would not know where to get it. I think I can google to search for the nearest place.

I have eggs whenever my mom cooks them. I love scrambled eggs when there is ham inside them. I wish I could cook like her I just need to be able to learn in the kitchen.

I have always enjoyed eating asparagus, it is one of my favourite vegetables, so I find it great news that it is actually one of the foods that you can get folic acid from. I think it is a great idea to try to get as much as possible from your diet rather than taking supplements if you can. Luckily, the foods that are high in folic acid are also high in other things too, and this means that you should be able to be healthier in all kinds of ways.

I only had asparagus once and its was fried. It was delicious so I enjoyed the serving. I would not mind having it fried again.
