Default What is the future of Health Care field like Medical Transcription?

It may change as more providers move to electronic medical records, but there will always be a need for people to get the correct data into the records, especially since it has been proven that voice recognition software is unreliable, particularly when foreign accents vary as much as they can in major metropolitan medical facilities.

I think the future is good. Medical records are quickly becoming electronicized so there are a lot of jobs in the field. There is a market for people who understand medical terminology. I've heard all you need is a 2 years Associates degree. It should be a growing sector for the next couple decades.

Medical transcription will always be needed. Even as the use of electronic records increases, there will still be people who have to enter dictation into the computer and hard copy information. We are years away from a truly autonomous, fully electronic medical records system, which are still being developed. And then you have to take into account how long it will take all medical professionals to swtich over to something like that...many years away. This is still a very viable career choice and it can be a very lucrative one.
