Default Foetus and Spina Bifida

What are the factors that can increase my chances of having a pregnancy affected by Spina Bifida?

As far as I know you can end up having a child with spina bifida if you don't have enough folic acid in your body. Eat those fruits and veggies that contain folic acid so you won't end up having a child with spina bifida.

Folic acid is, without a doubt, something that all pregnant women should take - for the sole reason that it can reduce the chances so much. There are a number of foods that you can get this from, but if you feel as though your diet is lacking in this type of food then you might want to simply take supplements instead. You should find that you are able to purchase these from any pharmacy, and even a lot of local supermarkets, so there is no reason that you shouldn't have them. It is recommended that you take them for three months prior to getting pregnant, however if it was unplanned then taking them as soon as you realise is better than nothing.
