It depends when it is discovered. There are certain stages where a termination might be discussed, if it is before around 24 weeks of gestation. Otherwise, you would have to go full term and then think about how best to care for the baby when s/he is born. It might be recommended to have a c-section so that the baby is not harmed during the birth. I think it is very important for mothers to be advised to take folic acid before they plan to get pregnant, because this can reduce the chances greatly, yet it is information that not everybody is able to get, which of course is a sad thing.
