Do you know an unsung hero?
The planning group invites you to nominate a person with a disability for the Unsung Hero Award. To be considered as an Unsung Hero, the contributions of the nominee to the disability movement in Toronto are previously unrecognized and the nominee is informed and accepts the nomination. Download Nomination Form.
The deadline for submission of the nomination and consent forms for Unsung Hero is October 30, 2009.
Invitation to poetry - Calling all poets!
The Planning group is seeking poems about any aspect of disability. Topics can include, but are not limited to accessibility, barriers, community, family, friendship, school, work, health, opportunities, struggles or triumphs. Selected poems will be read and/or displayed at the 2009 International Day of People with Disabilities celebration and posted on their website.
The Invitation to Poetry event is not a contest. There are no entry fees and no monetary prize. It is an opportunity for aspiring poets to present their work. Entry requirements are attached. The deadline for the Invitation to Poetry event is October 30, 2009.
Invitation to Art
Invitation to Art is a new initiative which will be introduced in the 2009 event. Artists with disabilities are invited to display and sell their work at the International Day of People with Disabilities celebration. It provides an opportunity to showcase and promote the work of artists with disabilities.
