Learn about our September artist, Katherine (Kasia) Parent from Newcastle:
1. How did you come up with the idea for this drawing that is included inside the calendar.
In a family with four generations of skiers, the Canadian Rockies are near and dear to my heart, and Mt. Rundle is of very special personal significance to me.
2. Why do you like drawing/painting or taking pictures?
I am particularly drawn to Canadian landscapes, and am highly sensitive to the contrast between their agelessness and vulnerability. Painting gives me a chance to combine the beauty of the landscape with the passion and the respect I have for it.
3. How did you feel when you heard your artwork was selected for the TGIF Calendar?
4. How has the Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Association of Ontario assisted you and/or your family?
In my role as a member of the SB&HAO board I have had the opportunity to connect with many members and their families. I have been astounded by the degree of compassion, dedication, strength, courage and hope.
